Benjamin Piton est ingénieur forestier et directeur adjoint Nord-Outre Mer à l’ Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière (IGN). Il contribue à l’inventaire forestier national et a notamment piloté la publication des "Indicateurs de gestion durable des forêts françaises", offrant un panorama global sur les forêts françaises à travers une soixantaine d'indicateurs. Il porte également une initiative visant à faciliter l'accès aux réglementations forestières pour les propriétaires et gestionnaires forestiers.
